Training Programmes
SRH has evolved into one of the finest service, training and research institutions with a bed strength of 200 inpatients. A number of papers have been presented at various national and international conferences regarding the new surgical techniques developed for reconstructive surgery of deformed hands of the leprosy patients. These procedures are being adopted by other similar institutions.
Surgery
The plastic surgery department of Gandhi Medical College Hospital has been observing SRH's surgical techniques and have adopted similar techniques in their hospitals. In addition, a group of plastic surgeons from Surgicorps International/USA who had come to Hyderabad to train the college's post graduate students, visited SRH to observe the new surgical techniques adopted for hand surgery.
Physiotherapy
As it is a critical part of any orthopaedic surgery training programme, post graduate students and interns from nearby colleges are posted to work for varying periods in the physiotherapy department.
Post graduate social work and nursing
The post graduate students of social work from local colleges are also regularly posted to SRH for six month rotations. In addition, medical officers of primary health centers, medical students, post graduate nursing students, as well as general nursing trainees also spend time training at SRH.
