SRH’s effort:
•Controlling TB in collaboration with the Government under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme
•The primary objective is to detect sputum positive patients and provide treatment for six months (DOTS - Directly Observed Treatment Short Course).
•Established a Microscopy Centre covering a population of 0.1 million in October 2002.
•Area increased to cover a population of .5 million in April 2004
•Treatment is also provided for all of the other categories of TB.

Tuberculosis (abbreviated as TB for Tubercle Bacillus) is a common and deadly infectious disease caused by the mycobacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Mycobacterium bovis, which most commonly affects the lungs (pulmonary TB) but can also affect the central nervous system, lymphatic system, circulatory system, genitourinary system, bones and joints.
